Goals

  1. Conduct basic research addressing fundamental and intersystem barriers in Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), Electricity, and Hydrogen Energy Systems that compellingly demonstrate by 2030 the likelihood of reaching Regional GHG Emissions Neutrality (ReGEN) well before 2050, while ensuring reliable and sustainable energy delivery in California and Texas;
  2. Develop a new Energy Systems Science and Engineering discipline to train a new workforce to carry out the first goal; and
  3. Replicate the first goal in other regions, possibly relying on a different set of Energy Systems.
